Most ammo brands want you to think a defense contractor made it. Tactical gray box, a font designed for a submarine, some copy about mission-critical terminal performance. We put ours in a pill bottle.
Squid Defense started the way most good ammo companies do — a family that got tired of paying too much for gear that took itself too seriously. A suppressor can quiet the muzzle. What it can't touch is the sonic boom a bullet drags behind it once it breaks the speed of sound. Drop below that line and the crack simply never happens.
That spike is the sonic boom trailing the bullet. Your suppressor cannot touch it — only a slower round can.
No supersonic crack. Just the action cycling and a heavier bullet pushing instead of snapping.
What poly coating actually does
If you've only ever shot bare lead or standard FMJ, the colored stuff can look like a gimmick. It isn't. A thin synthetic shell wraps the projectile, and that shell earns its keep three ways.

Keeps bare lead from smearing into your rifling, so your bore stays honest through a long session.
Less lead in the air
Cuts down the airborne lead residue you'd otherwise be breathing at an indoor range.
Feeds smooth
Slick enough to run reliably without needing a full copper jacket wrapped around it.
The color is a side effect. We just decided that if the coating was going to be a color anyway, it might as well be a good one.
